The new world record striped bass was caught on the night of August 4, 2011 in Connecticut waters. The striper was boated by Greg Myerson and weighed in at 81.88 pounds, which edges out the previous record of 78.8 pounds caught in 1982. Dead goose falls from sky, knocks hunter unconscious in ‘freaky accident’

A hunter in Easton, Md., was knocked unconscious by a goose that that had been shot out of the sky by a member of his hunting party, WBAL reports. Robert Meilhammer, 51, was out with three other hunters shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday when they noticed a flock of Canada geese overhead. The group fired at the flock from a blind, striking one of the geese and sending it plummeting directly into Meilhammer.

We should expect a statement allowing for shed collecting

Basically, in Massachusetts wildlife law, there is the presumption that you can’t do anything unless there is a statement that says you can. Read the Abstracts. If they don’t give you the go-ahead, you can’t do it. So it’s technically questionable whether we can even legally collect deer sheds. (Don’t worry about this. Nobody is out looking to arrest shed collectors.) We should expect a statement allowing for shed collecting.
