Ed and Lorraine Warren – Frauds

There is a new “documentary” on Netflix that I think is based on the case that was the subject of the incredibly loosely fictionalized Conjuring movie The Devil Made Me Do It. I don’t know, I saw a clip and was disgusted by how the participants were fawning over them and their involvement.

I am so sick of the Warrens being put on a pedestal in the horror/paranormal communities. These people were hucksters. On top of that, they were only ever present at investigations of paranormal activity after the fact. They are given far too much credit for their participation in cases like Amityville.

Ed was a self-appointed, self-professed “demonology” and Lorraine was not a great psychic. They literally sold themselves as experts and I don’t believe they actually had any of the expertise they laid claim to.

Can we just be done with these two and their nebulous claims to fame?

All that being said, the Conjuring movies were pretty good and I loved the chemistry between Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who were great fictionalized versions of these people. Would be great if the Warrens had been half as involved in those cases as the movies suggest.
